Join The Billings Public Library Film Society in celebrating Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month with a screening of the 2018 Romantic Comedy/Drama, Crazy Rich Asians. Based on Kevin Kwan’s novel of the same name, the film follows a Chinese-American professor who travels to meet her boyfriend's family and is surprised to discover they are among the richest in Singapore.

The film has been lauded for being the first by a major Hollywood studio in nearly 30 years to feature a majority cast of Chinese descent in a modern setting. The film grossed $174.5 million in the United States and Canada and received many accolades including a 2019 Critics Choice Award and a 2019 Teen Choice Award.

A screening of the film will take place on May 10 in the library's Community Room. Popcorn and refreshments will be provided. A week later on May 20, the film society will meet again to discuss and critically engage with the film. Both events are free and open to the public.
