Program Description

Event Details

Join us for Billings Public Library's participation in the Copyist Program, a series of exciting art events held at local museums, galleries, and libraries in Montana and Wyoming!

Local artists have been invited to study and reinterpret Loren Entz's 1995 oil painting of mother and children, "Arts and Literature," in their own style and preferred medium. The goal of this program is to provide artists with a rare opportunity to closely study the original work of a notable artist and attempt to recreate it. Copyist programs are popular at galleries across the world because they allow artists a chance to develop their skills as they intimately engage with a rare work of art, and onlookers get to observe and interact with the artists as they work.

Artists have already been selected, but onlookers and participants-from-afar are welcome to attend (dry materials only, please!)

The copyist program has also visited the Western Heritage Center, Yellowstone Art Museum, and Yellowstone County Museum, and is scheduled to appear at the Brinton Art Museum in Sheridan, WY, KOA Headquarters, and Tippet Rise Art Center this summer!
