April 2nd is Hans Christian Andersen's birthday, so in his honor we are reading fairy tales this month. Fairy tales for adults, that is. This could be a folklore collection from our non-fiction (398.2) or mythology section (290's), or any number of books that use these classic tales and legends as their source. Check out Neil Gaiman, Robin McKinley, Katherine Arden, Naomi Novik, John Connolly, Jane Yolen, Helen Oyeyemi, G. Willow Wilson, Victor Lavalle, Juliet Marillier--just to name a few--
