DESCRIPTION:Join us for Billings Public Library's participation in th
 e Copyist Program, a series of exciting art events held at local museums, 
 galleries, and libraries Montana and Wyoming!Local artists have been invit
 ed to station themselves under the library's oculus to study and rein
 terpret Isabelle Johnson's portrait of Ann Whitmack, former library d
 irector, in their own style and preferred medium. The goal of this program
  is to provide artists with a rare opportunity to closely study the origin
 al work of a notable artist and attempt to recreate it. Copyist programs a
 re popular at galleries across the world because they allow artists a chan
 ce to develop their skills as they intimately engage with a rare work of a
 rt, and onlookers get to observe and interact with the artists as they wor
 k.Artists have already been selected, but onlookers and participants-from-
 afar are welcome to attend (dry materials only, please!)The copyist progra
 m has also visited the Western Heritage Center, Yellowstone Art Museum, an
 d Yellowstone County Museum, and is scheduled to appear at the Buffalo Bil
 l Center of the West in Cody, WY!
