Program Description

Event Details

The Montana Association of Geographic Information Professionals (MAGIP) is sponsoring a GIS Day Mapathon at the Billings Public Library. GIS Day is an annual event celebrating geographic information systems (GIS). It is a day dedicated to showing, teaching, and inspiring others about mapping and geospatial technology. This event is open to the public to stop in anytime between noon and 5 pm. You may use the library computers or bring your own device. Food and prizes will be provided, so please register.

MAGIP will be holding Mapathons across the state of Montana. These events will allow volunteers to map power line locations with the intent of helping officials understand wildfire risk. The City will compete to map the most power lines, with the winning region receiving bragging rights.
